a whole new way of life

when i was getting ready to come home from camp a couple of weeks ago i commented to a friend that i was going home to "a whole new way of life." kathryn had passed the tests and earned her driver's license while i was at girls' camp. i went to seattle for a week a few days after coming home from camp, so i only got a taste of the newness. now that i'm home from seattle i'm really feeling it...and it's great!

Mom's Birthday and A Big Test

Okay, okay. Today isn't really my mom's something-th birthday. But she'll be working as a museum curator at girls camp on her real something-th birthday. And I say, any chance you have to eat out, have cake and ice cream and light a question mark shaped candle on fire is a good time to me. So really what I have to say is that a good time was had by all at this, mom's something-th birthday party.

But not only does mom turn 28 again on Monday, I have to take the test for my drivers licence. Hopefully I do well and don't run and red lights or mow down any pedestrians... and hopefully my picture is halfway decent.

4th of july fun in greenleaf

today, we ventured just beyond nampa to the town of greenleaf for their annual 4th of july parade. we rode on the festively decorated trailer hitched to the back of bud's antique john deere tractor. dee, john, tatia, and cyrus were on the trailer with us, as well. i (kim) pointed out the 3 houses that i lived in as a child that were along the parade route. there was a ton of people there. we saw the doutys, the ehrlichs, mahlon brown and his wife, bonnie cagle and many people whose faces looked really familiar but i could not tell you their names to save my life. we waved, laughed, threw lots of candy, and just generally had a fun time together.

Introduction

Hello anyone that cares about dreary old Nampa. This is a blog about my family and our lives. So get ready for shock and awe. Get ready for more than 100 degree heat during the summer and snowdays because of one inch of snow during the winter. But most of all, get ready for a family that loves each other dearly, no matter what happens.
